Modest Mouse is hit and miss with me. Obviously, they have some brilliant songs, but overall, I dunno. You know what I mean?
But this.. this is genius. The one album that Isaac Brock released as "Ugly Casanova".
In the liner notes, Brock describes a huge Modest Mouse fan who came to a show in Denver and was, if I remember correctly, a quasi homeless guy, but who insisted on performing some of his songs... you can read about it on Wikipedia.
But the album is so damn good. "Barnacles" etched a groove in my brain, or found a groove already there. Dissonance never felt so good. It isn't that dissonant at all, but you'll catch my drift.
I still hold out hope for a second Ugly Casanova album.
