The Flaming Lips - 1995 - Clouds Taste Metallic

 

There are two albums that I honestly don't remember ever listening to prior, but when I heard them the "first" time, they were instantly familiar, as if they had been pre-programmed into my mind. And so, yeah, if you showed me proof I am part robot, these are the albums that would make me pause before I said "get the fuck outta here."  Ween's The Mollusk and this album. I have dug deep to find where I may have heard them... Craig is responsible for The Mollusk, I think. And Green Apple Books in San Francisco for this one. I knew both bands prior, and loved them. I mean, what, drugs? Sure, except that I didn't do drugs in the mid-1990s, when these albums came out. I didn't even drink into oblivion. There is more than meets the eye to this life. And at least the trippy shit has a great soundtrack. Neither this, or The Mollusk, are the best albums by either band, but you know I would buy each on vinyl.
