The same year that Minneapolis native Prince hit the big time with "I Wanna Be Your Lover," the single by fellow Minneapolis denizens, Lipps Inc., "Funkytown" made it HUGE.
Written by Steven Greenberg, who went on to produce Love Is the Law by The Suburbs, it is, obviously, a timeless classic.
The whole album, and the entire output by Lipps Inc. is excellent.
I am pretty sure our Shlep Music Club member Troy shared with me that his older brother Bill bought the synth featured on this song.
