Albert Ayler - 1966 - Spirits Rejoice

The Paris Olympics were so good. I am not that traveled, but I have been to Paris three times, and it is my favorite city that I have ever visited. So, when I went to bed early on a Friday night so that I could wake up to watch the men's marathon live, I was so happy with my choice. I love the marathon in any summer Olympics because, besides the drama of the race - and it is usually dramatic - it is a chance to see the city in which it takes place, for nearly three hours. I loved the Rio marathon, as it rained, and made it particularly beautiful. The Paris one, was....it made me emotional. There was a clear leader by the time I woke from my slumber... and to see so many world class runners, but that one guy.... a replacement... so far ahead, brought tears to my eyes. Marathon runners make me mist up.

If you ever watch a marathon, and I hope you do, I recommend you listen to this album while you watch it....and just repeat.
