Marlena Shaw - 1975 - Who Is This Bitch, Anyway?

 

Best known for her 1969 rendition of "California Soul", the late Marlena Shaw had her early training in jazz vocals, reached her apex as a soul/R&B singer, and has been sampled a lot in hip-hop. She is cool, and this album is a great expression of it. I didn't hear this album until relatively recently, but I remember 1975, even though I was only 5 years old, and this is what that era sounded like to me in my very distant memory.
