Quasi consists of formerly married Sam Coomes (The Donner Party, Heatmiser) and drummer Janet Weiss (Sleater-Kinney, The Jicks, Wild Flag). They formed in 1993, and while they record and tour with their own bands, Quasi has pretty consistently toured and recorded (their 2013 release Breaking the Balls of History was their 10th album, and their first in ten years). In the late 1990s they toured with Elliott Smith, opening for him, and serving as his backup band. Smith and Coomes released three albums together as Heatmiser. Field Studies is their third proper album.
