Foxygen - 2013 - We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic

This duo formed at just age fourteen in L.A. This is their third album, but the first one I heard, and frankly, I like Foxygen so much that probably four of their six albums will eventually make this collection.

Those of  you that know my musical taste will understand immediately why I love this album so much. It is part Velvet Underground, part pastiche of a cooler older brother's album collection, and a penchant for odd breaks and cool harmonies.

There are very few bands that I have a huge desire to see live at this point, but Foxygen is one of them. Maybe the top one. Unfortunately, I think they have broken up. There has been no official word that I've seen, but it has been three years since their last album.

A great concert would be Foxygen and Girls on the same bill.
