Charles Mingus - 1963 - The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady

  
 
I don't even recall how I came across this album.. I mean, I know I bought it on CD. And it must have been like a Penguin jazz guide.
 
1994/1995 were terrible years for rock music. Grunge's success had helped destroy the indie labels... won't rant, but think Third Eye Blind.
 
One of the greatest connections I have with music friends around my age is that so many of us indulged in jazz for the first time during that barren rock era.
 
The other day Glen was feeling down and I recommended this.  I recommend it to you. And I am about to listen to it again for the second time in five days.
 
Charles Mingus is every bit as great as Miles, Coltrane, and Louis.
