I lived in the upper Haight in San Francisco in late 1990. This album brings me back to that apartment on Masonic so crystal clearly. I know it didn't snow in San Francisco, but my memory is looking out the window at night, this album on, only a candle lighting the room and large soft snowflakes falling to the street.
Jellyfish were from San Francisco and this is their debut album. They only put out two proper albums. Craig is a huge fan, though I believe he favors their second album, Spilt Milk.
Back in December 1990, there was no Amoeba Records. That location still was home to a bowling alley. I bought this at Reckless Records, just a block from where I lived. I think that closed in the early aughts, though I can't be sure. It is gone now though. (I also bought the first MC 900 Ft. Jesus album there).
"That Is Why" was the radio song, and it is great, but my favorite is the opener, "The Man I Used to Be."
