It is pretty easy to think of War as a singles band. You've heard "Low Rider" and "Why Can't We Be Friends?" (among others) and feel like you don't really need to dig deeper... or hear those songs again. But War is one of the great bands, and the gold lies in the songs you haven't heard. To me, they are my "time travel" band. I just feel like if I got transported to 1971 and was totally freaking out, hearing "All Day Music" or any of these songs would ground me. If that seems weird, I wrote a time travel thing for songotheday about 15 years ago and War felt like that band.
