This album is probably best remembered for being Spin magazine's album of the year for 1991, the same year that Nirvana's Nevermind was released. As much as I loved Nirvana at the time, I had equal affection for this album. And now, over 30 years later, I listen to this far more often than I do the Nirvana album. Even if Cobain hadn't committed suicide and made all his music that much more of a bummer, I know my taste still leans far more Teenage Fanclub. They have put out a lot of albums since then - many very good - but this one has one of the greatest songs ever, "The Concept", which opens the album.. and is followed by at least a half dozen more excellent songs. "What You Do to Me" and "Star Sign" also got a lot of play on the alternative stations. Timeless.
