I recently had a discussion with one of my best friends, in San Francisco, over sushi in the Castro. I told him about this album blog and how, with the Can entry, I had written about bands that had four great albums in a row, and he said that I omitted The Clash, and he was right... The Clash had a string of five great albums, and I will always argue that the post-Mick Jones album Cut the Crap, is underrated. You can't defend Joe Strummer's solo output and put down that album. It has some great songs. But then I told him, I have kind of grown out of bands that have the reggae influence... I am not a fan of The Clash, The Police, and what have you.. the white guys doing reggae. It isn't a woke thing, I just realized I don't like the music. That is okay. And I said, Mick Jones's post-Clash band, Big Audio Dynamite, was amazing, so ahead of their time... dated, archaic, and futuristic at the same time. I bought this album in London at age 16, and it sounds as great today as it did then.
