The third album by The Jayhawks, but the first for me, Hollywood Town Hall was one of the best purchases I made in 1992 (along with Basehead's Play With Toys). A band from Minnesota (the iconic cover photo is from Hollywood Township in Carver County, Minnesota), I bought this album solely based on where they were from. I know in the Old 97's post I said that I didn't get into alt-country until Wilco, and quickly remembered that was not so... THIS album ushered that in. Of course, this was a stand-alone in the genre to me. A damn near perfect album. I would put this on my turntable often.
