The Nerves - 1976 - The Nerves [EP]

 

The Nerves never released a full album, just this EP, and yet are still one of the most important bands. Peter Case (later of the Plimsouls), Jack Lee, and Paul Collins (later of The Beat), formed in San Francisco and then relocated to Los Angeles. Listen to these four songs and you will hear an influence in so many early 80s power-pop/new wave songs. Blondie covered the opening song, "Hanging On the Telephone", but The Nerves version is superior. It is. Listen.
