I will never forget the first time I heard this album. In 1988, I was 18 years old, and in love with Beggars Banquet records, 4AD, you get it.. and then a friend came over and said, you have to hear this...
He was so right. It was a life changing moment. It really was...the Pixies. Holy shit.
The St. Clair Broiler is no more, but I remember going into it after hearing this album for the first time.. and singing "Gigantic."
Doolittle is the better album-- it is probably my all-time favorite, but no album ever changed my sense of greatness, sense of glory, blown my mind like Surfer Rosa.
