Peggy Lee - 1969 - Is That All There Is?

 

I first heard the title track - one of the greatest songs ever recorded - in Martin Scorsese's undervalued 1985 gem After Hours. The lyrics are so outstanding, and kind of a fitting end to another challenging year.

The recording I feature has a few of those record pops - "the sonic fireplace" as an old friend once dubbed it - and it is fitting for a record like this.
