She & Him are Zooey Deschanel (best known as an actress) and singer-songwriter M. Ward. I have loved this album since the first time I heard it. I first heard the single "This Is Not a Test" in the summer of 2008 during a very good time in my life. After years of post-divorce depression, things were all better by then. While staying with Nick, he loaned me his car so I could go to, I think, Cheapo Records and as I was driving down Summit Ave (a beautiful parkway lined with beautiful huge old houses and trees), the window open, the summer breeze... a perfect afternoon. A perfect moment.
