Iggy Pop - 1977 - The Idiot


By 1976, Iggy Pop was strung out, his band The Stooges were disbanded, he wasn't hireable (he tried to replace Jim Morrison in The Doors) and he finally recognized he was gonna die if he didn't get off heroin. While in rehab, one of his few visitors was David Bowie, who had been hired to mix Raw Power, the final "Stooges" album. Bowie, himself, was dealing with a heroin addiction. Finally, both decided to get out of L.A. and record in Europe. This was recorded at a chateau in France (most people think of this as a Berlin-era record). His first true solo album.
