This is basically an Aimee Mann solo album, and holy shit, it is so great. Every one of her nine songs is a keeper. A few of these songs in demo form actually inspired Paul Thomas Anderson's script for the movie (a great movie, by the way). In addition to the soundtrack (which also includes a couple of Supertramp songs from 1979), there is also Jon Brion's original score for the film.
I have seriously listened to this three times in a row, just like I made a habit of in 2000.
