I couldn't recommend a better album to usher in the new year! Louis Jordan had a ton of hits on the R&B charts in the 1940s and early 1950s. Pure joy, humor, and really, arguably one of the main acts to usher in rock 'n roll.
I first heard him on the soundtrack to Spike Lee's 1992 film Malcolm X, with the song "Beans and Cornbread". Then, when going through and compiling the history of the R&B charts, hit after hit just stood out from so much other music of the time.
While I am not normally into greatest hits/best of compilations, this is obviously an exception. So fun!
